■ Guruji, Ramlakhan singh, the principal of Kala Kendra at Bhagalpur
has developed a unique indigenous painting art known as Andaj Shaeli the symbolisation of
Zero or ‘shunya’.
It is based on Ajanta style of painting and Bhagalpur’s Manjusha art as well as sculpture art. Organic colours and jute canvas are used on walls and floors for this art form.
■ Prime Minister hails ‘Sukhet model’ of Madhubani.
Sukhet model is named after Sukhet village in Madhubani district where it is
being implemented by the scientists of Dr
Rajendra Prasad Central Agriculture University, Pusa (Samastipur).
Under this project, garbage and dung from houses are
collected door-to-door and then converted into vermicompost (organic manure).
From the income generated from the sale of organic manure, every family is
provided LPG cylinders every two months in exchange of the waste and cow dung.
This project also provides employment to 14 to 15 people at the village.
The Sukhet model is not only promoting cleanliness,
but also providing organic manure to the farmers. It is also helping the
village in getting rid of pollution.
■ The Bapu Tower is being built in Gardanibagh area of Patna at
a cost of ₹84.49
crore. It will be a G+6 building of 120 feet in height constructed
by the Building Construction Department on seven acres of land.
This tower is being constructed as Champaran
Satyagraha Smriti and would house different exhibits related to Gandhi,
especially his visit to Champaran in 1917. This will be the first tower in the country dedicated to the
Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, in which everything related to Mahatma
Gandhi will be available for the visitors.

■ In the memory of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, a Science City
with state-of-the-art technology is being constructed near the Moin-Ul-Haq Stadium
located at Rajendra
Nagar in Patna.
It is being built by Department of Science and Technology Government
of Bihar to promote and popularize Science among people. The Science
City is being constructed with an expenditure of over ₹400 crore, including civil work and exhibits. The private firm, Flying Elephant, which prepared the
architectural design of the building, has given contract to Canada-based GSM Project to design the
exhibits.
■ Abhay Kumar Singh, a 2004-batch Indian
Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Bihar cadre, has been appointed as joint secretary
in the Ministry
of Cooperation.
The appointment has been cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the Prime Minister, according to the
order by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
■ The railways will build four platforms on the
Shaheed Veer Kunwar Singh Azadi Park (also known as Hardinge Park) side of Patna
junction to facilitate smooth running of mainline-electric-multiple-unit (MEMU)
trains.
The railways plan to build two pairs of double-discharge
(DD) platform.
A DD platform has platforms on both its flanks. The greatest advantage will be
that all MEMU passenger trains will originate and terminate from Hardinge Park
terminal instead of Patna Junction and this would de-congest traffic on Patna
Junction.
■ A fully funded research project has been signed
between Central
University of South Bihar (CUSB) and Atomic Energy National Laboratory of Japan to
study the fundamental questions and influencing factors related to Material
Science.
The University became a member for the study on Global
Science Project "Utilization of Inhouse and Mega Science by Synchrotron
Radiation of Data Storage Materials". CUSB is the first institution in the state of
Bihar that has been selected as a member for this Global project.
This Mega science project is operated by Japan's KEK-PF
National Laboratory and is located at Oho near Tsukusa.
■ From Bihar two teachers, Chandana Dutt (Madhubani district ) and Haridas Sharma
(Kaimur district) were selected for the 2021 National Award to Teachers. President
Sh. Ram Nath Kovind on September 5, presented the National Teacher Award to 44 most talented teachers selected from
all over the country.
The state education department has selected 20 teachers
for state-level award this year.
■ As per the data available on the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Bihar has performed the best in
providing rural
tap water connection. The state has gone from being among the bottom
five in terms of rural tap water supply (with only 1.84% households having
connections), to among the top four (86.96%).
■ An Air Quality Monitoring Station (AQMS) is likely to
be established in the postgraduate department of physics at Tilka Manjhi
Bhagalpur University (TMBU).
The AQMS would be equipped with the devices and gas
sensors to detect carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide
and ozone.
It will also have dust particle sensors for detecting PM10 and PM2.5 suspended particulate
matters in air. The AQMS will also have devices and sensors for measuring
temperature, relative humidity and barometric pressure. Ultra-violet index sensors
will help in accurate measurement and analysis of pollution parameters.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between TMBU and Indian Institute
of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) Pune, in 2017. This AQMS is part of
the Modelling Air Pollution And Networking (MAPAN) project and was supposed to
become functional in 2017.
■ In the recent Quality of Life for Elderly Index released by Economic Advisory
Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), Bihar has emerged as top third
scorer when it comes to providing quality of life to elderly people in the
'aged state' category. The state has an overall score of 51.82, while the top two states – Rajasthan
and Maharashtra – have scored 54.61
and 53.31, respectively.
The index was assessed on 45 various indicators on the
well-being of the elderly, including four pillars viz. financial, social
well-being, health system and income security.
■ Seven cops five IPS officers and two inspectors of
the Bihar police have been conferred with the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in
Investigation (2021).
■ Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of
India Prof. K. Vijay Raghavan virtually inaugurated a decentralized biomedical waste
incinerator at Buxar Municipality, Bihar.

■ In Bihar Akshaya Patra kitchen will be given to handle
better meals and nutritious snacks for 72 thousand elementary schools of the
state. With this implementation, teachers associated with mid-day meals will be
separated to ensure their focus on teaching work and quality education.
■ Bihar government has signed a Memorandum of
Cooperation (MoC) with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (Gates Foundation)
to provide technical support for the next five years to the departments of
health, social welfare, agriculture and rural development especially Jeevika,
finance and planning.
■ Bihar Education Project Council (BEPC) tableaux got the first
prize for conceptualisation and presentation of “पढ़ेगी बेटी बढ़ेगा बिहार” on the 75th Independence Day celebrations at Gandhi
maidan in Patna.
■ Jitendra Kumar of Patna has been conferred with
the ‘Chief of
Defence Staff Commendation’ on the 75th Independence Day.
It’s the highest award given to a civil officer by the Ministry of Defence.
■ CM Nitish Kumar has approved alignments of four
major highway projects that includes two Greenfield
four-lane national highways from Mokama to Munger (92 Km long) and Buxar to Varanasi
via Chausa; four-laning of the existing Barauni-Muzaffarpur national highway including
construction of a 40-KM long ring road around Muzaffarpur town; and the
four-laning of Buxar-
Haidariya (Ghazipur, UP) road to provide direct connectivity UP’s
Purvanchal Expressway.
A sum of around ₹10,000 crore would be spent on the construction
of the four projects.
■ CM Nitish Kumar gave his nod on the Road
Construction department’s proposal to send a recommendation to the Union
government for inclusion of the proposed construction of seven new four-lane highways under
the Bharatmala-
phase 2.
The proposed new highways projects include the
four-laning of 552
KM long ( This road is currently being constructed as
two-lane road),Patna-Kolkata Expressway Buxar-Arwal-Jehanabad-Biharsharif
highways (the Buxar to Arwal part of this road will be a Greenfield project),
Dalsinghsarai- Simri Bakhtiyarpur highway, Dighwara-Masrakh-Piprakothi-Motihari
–Raxaul highway, Sultanganj-Deoghar highway and Masrakh-Muzaffarpur highway.
■ Under Bharatmala-2 the first Access restricted Expressway in Bihar will be
constructed between Patna and Kolkata.
The proposed length of this Expressway is 470 km.
■ The State Election Commission of Bihar notified the Bihar Panchayat
Election 2021 for Gram Panchayat and Gram Kachari on 24 August 2021.
State election commissioner (SEC) Deepak Prasad said the election will
be held in 11
phases from September 24 to December 12 for mukhiya, ward
member, panchayat samiti member, zila parishad member, sarpanch and panch.
For the first
time in this three-tier Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), elections for panch
and sarpanch will be conducted through the ballot papers and polling for
mukhiya, ward member, panchayat samiti members, and zila parishad members will
be held through EVMs (M2).
This time, the SEC has made arrangements for webcasting polling
at sensitive and super sensitive booths and has also set up a state-level
control room where any complaint about poll malpractices or other discrepancies
can be lodged. Voters will also be verified through biometric machines at the
booths to prevent bogus voting.
This time, the number of electors and panchayat bodies
have been reduced due to the
reorganisation of urban bodies.
