• R K Mahajan has been appointed as the new chairman of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).

Laungi Bhuiyan from Bihar’s Gaya district built a 3 Km long canal after 30 years of hard work to take rainwater coming down from nearby hills to fields of his village in Kothilawa.


• India’s first model nutritional village Kukribigha is located in Patna district of Bihar.


Bihar ranked 26th in the Ease of DoingBusiness ranking based on the State Business Reform Action Plan- 2019 (State BRAP) released by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Andhra Pradesh topped the list followed by Uttar Pradesh.


Ghar Tak Fiber Scheme of ₹14,000 Cr have been recently launched by PM Shri Narendra Modi in Bihar.


• PM Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated various projects under 'Namami Gange' Yojana and 'AMRUT' Yojana in Bihar. These schemes include:

Under the 'AMRUT' Yojana:

  • Sewerage treatment plants at Beur and Karam-Leechak in Patna city
  • Water-related projects in Siwan and Chhapra

Under Namami Gange:

  • Water supply projects in Munger and Jamalpur 
  • River Front Development Scheme in Muzaffarpur. (Three riverfronts will be developed in Muzaffarpur on the bank of Budhi Gandak.)


• PM Shri Narendra Modi on 10 September 2019 launched ₹20,050 Cr Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) aimed at developing the country’s fisheries sector sustainably.


• PMMSY in Bihar envisages an investment of ₹ 1390 crore with Central Share of ₹ 535 crore and the additional fish production target pegged at 3 lakh tons.


• Bihar ranks fourth in Inland Fisheries in India.


• Two teachers from Bihar, Sant Kumar Sahni and Akhileshwar Pathak were conferred with National Awards to Teachers 2020.


• North India’s largest frozen semen station was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in Purnia district of Bihar under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission.


• Bihar ranked 4th in the list of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna (PMMY) in availing loans to women.


• Bihar ranked 25th in India’s first Happiness Index. Mizoram tops the ranking.


• Bihar ranked first in among the states with the lowest number of accidents due to drunken driving in 2019.


• Bihar ranked 23rd in the Young Child Environment Index (YCEI) of the recently released State of Young Child in India report. Kerala stood first.


• CM Shri Nitish Kumar inaugurated State Cancer Institute in Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna at a cost of ₹ 120 Cr.


Shivdasia Kunwar has been selected by the Union Ministry of Steel as one of the 12 icons for its Ispati Irada campaign.


Aurangabad to Jayanagar will be the first expressway of Bihar to be built under the Bharatmala Yojana. It will be 271 Km long North-South corridor connecting Patna with 6 other districts of Bihar.


Bihar recorded the highest percentage increase of 44.69% in number of suicide cases according the data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).


• PM Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated 1.9 Km long Kosi rail mega bridge constructed at a cost of ₹ 516 Cr. The bridge will connect Mithila and Kosi region after 86 year and the distance between Nirmali and Saraigarh will be reduced from 298 km to 22 km.


• Recently PM Narendra Modi inaugurated Durgapur-Banka section of the Paradeep-Haldia-Durgapur LPG pipeline project.


• PM also inaugurated LPG bottling plants in Banka by IOCL and in East Champaran by HPCL with a combined bottling capacity of 80,000 cylinders per day.


• CM Shri Nitish Kumar has laid the foundation stone of Mithila Haat recently constructed along the East-West Corridor (NH-57) in Madhubani district.


• State-of-the-art data centre for flood management has been constructed in Patna.


• CM Shri Nitish Kumar has been honoured for Jal Jeevan Hariyali Abhiyan scheme run by the Bihar government at the recently held UN High-Level Round Table Conference.


• Former Union Minister Shri Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, who passed away recently, was a five-time MP from Vaishali Lok Sabha constituency.


• Rs 3980 Cr has been provisioned for Bihar in the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund of one lakh crore rupees under Atmanirbhar Bharat.
